Japan and India Forge AI Alliance to Counter Global Tech Dominance
Japan and India have cemented a strategic partnership focused on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and smart city development. The collaboration gained momentum with a series of high-level dialogues and startup events in Mumbai and Bengaluru, culminating in a memorandum of understanding between Japanese AI firm ONESTRUCTION and India's DataKaveri Systems.
The agreement facilitates technical exchanges in urban construction data—one of the least digitized global sectors—with plans to co-develop AI applications for infrastructure. "Japan brings manufacturing expertise while India delivers scalability," noted ONESTRUCTION CEO Lucas Haywood. The alliance aligns with Tokyo's November 2025 economic security agenda prioritizing AI, chips, and defense technologies.
